What Cast? Podcast.

I’ve really got into podcasts in the last year. I find them to be a great tool for learning, motivation/inspiration, finding out interesting shit, and just a general alternative to music.

In this blog, I want to share with you what I am currently listening to and why I think you should give them a chance.

1.       How I Built This with Guy Raz : NPR

NPR’s How I Built This with Guy Raz is probably my favourite at the moment. Here’s a description provided by NPR:

How I Built This is a podcast about innovators, entrepreneurs, and idealists, and the stories behind the movements they built. Each episode is a narrative journey marked by triumphs, failures, serendipity and insight — told by the founders of some of the world's best known companies and brands. If you've ever built something from nothing, something you really care about — or even just dream about it. — check out How I Built This hosted by Guy Raz @guyraz.

Here’s a few episode suggestions to get started:

-          VICE: Suroosh Alvi

-          Airbnb: Joe Gebbia

-          Starbucks: Howard Schultz

2.       The Joe Rogan Experience

The Joe Rogan Experience hosted by Joe Rogan is a three hour long podcast, give or take a few minutes, where he chats to his guests about a whole host of shit. Joe Rogan is a comedian and martial arts color commentator. With no real script, they talk about anything and everything, and with the large variety in the guests he has, it usually leads to super interesting conversations in which you learn stuff you may otherwise never come across.

I suggest the next time you’re on your daily commute or you’re travelling somewhere, give it a go. Don’t be put off by the length of the podcast, because it’s an easy listen and easy to jump in and out of. Also, skip the first 10 minutes because it’s usually just advertisements.

Here are some episode suggestions to get started:

-          #1021 – Russel Brand

-          #1002 – Peter Schiff

-          #857 – Dan Bilzerian

-          #1022 – Eric Weinstein

3.       The Brutal Truth About Sales & Selling

Now this one is a bit more targeted for those in sales, but still a good suggestion for anyone who is interested in learning and applying sales skills to your everyday life.

I’ve worked in outside sales for the last two months and stepping into the industry fresh out of college was a little daunting. This podcast has been a great tool for me to develop my sales skills outside the workplace, and also keep me focused during the work day.

Here’s a brief description provided via the ITunes store:

If you are in sales and have a passion for selling you will like this podcast. The focus is on b2b sales and selling. If you are selling or in sales this podcast is for you. Some of the topics I cover are cold calling, spin selling, challenger sale, solution selling, advanced selling skills. Strategic selling, Linkedin, saas, sales leadership, sales management, social media, b2b marketing, maverick selling method and how sales has changed.

Here’s a couple episode suggestions to get started:

-          Overcoming the top 3 career obstacles in sales with Nick Kullin
