We’re now in 2018. The hoopla of the New Year has died down and we’re now settling back into regular life. Regular life for a lot of us consists of rolling out of bed, rolling into work, drinking too many hot beverages till the workday is over, sparingly being productive with our resolutions, and settling back into the next Netflix show.
Quickly, lets take a second to look at the magic of a New Year. It’s the one time of the year that everyone we know is looking at the bigger picture. Taking a look at last year’s successes and failures, and beginning to think what the next year may hold. Some of us are even writing down goals, strategizing ways we can achieve what we always said we were going to, “I’m gonna get fitter, read more books, eat healthier, save more money,” etc. But just like the basic human, before you know it, you’ve forgot all about that big picture. You never wrote down your goals, and it really was just a good conversation piece at the time. There’s nothing like that alarm ringing in the morning to shrink all those ideas away. So really, I guess a new year just means a new calendar on the wall.
But, what if we were able to keep that big picture in front of us everyday. Maybe those goals you wrote down are now on your wall, and every time you see them it reminds you of that emotion of achieving more, living bigger and better. My first week back to work was rough, and even now, and I’m still picking up speed. But everyday I’m trying to look at the bigger picture. I’m keeping the end in mind by having my goals in front of me all the time, and doing the smallest of things to contribute toward those goals everyday so I don’t forget.
It’s easy for me to say, “Try to always look at the bigger picture.” I’m always thinking about my passions and what I can do to make them move forward, and I’m coming to realize that it’s all a bit of a domino effect from those little things you can do on a daily basis to grow that desire and skill. So, I ask you. What little thing could you do everyday to move closer to where you want to be. Could you wake up 20 mins earlier and read a little. Could you do 20 push ups before a shower. Could you start bringing lunch to work instead of eating out.
This blog is really just a jumble of thoughts I wanted to share with you to start to hopefully prompt that bigger picture thinking and possibly open up a discussion. It’s also my attempt of starting that consistency again toward posting on my site.
Anyways, think big. Dream big. Do a little. Consistently.
